Have you every had the problem of dealing with iTunes duplicates? Well I know I have and it has taken me many hours to fix the problem, that was before I discovered a solution to this dilemma in the form of a program. The program I’m speaking of is called Rinse and it is the ultimate all in one iTunes clean up tool. You will never have trouble trying to remove iTunes duplicates again if you deiced to pick up a copy of this handy duplicate remover app.
Just recently iTunes added on an additional feature for removing duplicates, but personally I have had horrible experience with it. If you are dealing with the problem of iTunes duplicates than there is only one way to take care of it; Automatically.
So just like the many other people out there I download songs from multiple sources besides just the over priced iTunes store. I’ll admit it, I’m not afraid. I don’t download every single one of my mp3 files from the iTunes store so therefore I have trouble with the organization of my library and the dreaded duplicate song problem.
Most people think that removing iTunes Duplicates is a simple process and does not require buying a program to get the job done, but you can take my word for it your are going to have more of a headache deleting the duplicate songs yourself. At first I used the iTunes delete duplicates feature and I wound up still having tons of duplicate iTunes songs. Maybe part of the problem was because I have several mislabeled songs as well but still I had to deal with duplicate songs.

I would be right in the middle of a fantastic workout listening to music and all the sudden my iPod would play the same song twice. I can’t explain in words how annoying this is to me and totally throws of my mojo. For this reason alone there is no way I can have duplicate songs in my iTunes library.
To top things of I can be a little O.C.D. so if things aren’t in complete order in my life I get a little freaked out. iTunes has no problem locating some of your dupe songs but than you have to manually go trough and delete duplicates in iTunes which can be extremely time consuming. I mean for me I don’t have the time to sit around and delete iTunes duplicate songs when I have a million other tasks pulling me elsewhere.
So if you want to take the traditional route than start by doing a quick Google search for “remove iTunes duplicates” and get an explanation on how to delete duplicates on iTunes directly through the program itself. But if your still having problems after giving this a try than it would highly recommend giving Rinse My Music a try. Here is an explanation from Apple’s support site…
Apple’s Explanation on Finding and Removing Duplicate Items

2. From the File menu in iTunes, choose Show Duplicates. iTunes will then list all of the duplicate titles in your library.

3. Select any duplicate item you would like to delete.

5. A message will appear asking you if you are sure you want to remove the item. Click the Remove button if you are sure.

6. If the item’s file was in your iTunes folder, you will be prompted by another dialog to either keep the file in your iTunes folder or move it to your computer’s Recycle Bin or Trash, which you can empty whenever you wish. If you want to remove the files from your iTunes folder and you’re using Windows, click Move to Recycle Bin. If you’re using a Mac, click Move to Trash.

Repeat the steps if you want to check for duplicate Movies, TV Shows, or Audiobooks by selecting the appropriate item in step 1.
Tip: You an speed the process up selecting multiple duplicates and deleting them all at once. To do this, press and hold down the Control key (Windows) or Command key (Mac), then click each individual duplicate item you want to delete. To delete all of the items you highlighted, press the Delete key on your keyboard and follow steps 3 through 5 from the above list of steps again.
